Asher Uchiyama
Founder | NYC Photographer & Videographer
Photographer and videographer who specializes in Social Media and Content Creation.
Born in Tokyo and raised in Honolulu, Asher Uchiyama is a New York City–based photographer, videographer, and creative director with over a decade of experience in digital storytelling, social media, and brand-driven content creation.
During the pandemic, Asher launched Happyer (Previously Support Da Locals), a creative platform originally designed to help small businesses in Honolulu establish their digital presence. Today, the brand has evolved into a network of 20+ curated NYC creators, offering photography, videography, and content production services at accessible rates—all quality-reviewed by Asher himself.
After briefly working as an agency recruiter in New York’s financial sector, Asher pivoted back to his true passion: visual storytelling and social media. His personal brand, @nycasher, quickly gained traction across TikTok and Instagram, building a community around authentic content and creative empowerment.
For the past 1.5 years, Asher has served as one of only three in-house content creators at Thursday Boots Co., where he produces high-impact photography and video campaigns, manages influencer collaborations, and helps shape the brand’s visual direction. His work with Thursday has been featured in major campaigns, showcasing a range of styles from lifestyle shoots to cinematic storytelling.
Now expanding his scope into creative direction and consulting, Asher continues to bridge community and commerce—casting local talent, directing branded shoots, and helping both individuals and businesses elevate their visual identity through genuine, story-first content.
Beyond his photography career, Asher is also the founder of Hiddenpalmtree, a lifestyle and automotive brand inspired by Hawaii’s creative culture and Japan’s JDM scene, merging fashion, cars, and storytelling into one evolving creative universe.
